Hr Career Counselor Told Me
What the $250/Hr Career Counselor Told Me Have you ever felt stuck and overwhelmed and scared, gone to get advice as to what to do next in your life or career, and⦠â¦it wasnât the right advice (But the last thing Iâd wanna be is a lawyer! Blech!) â¦the person who gave it to you had no clue how to relate to a creative person like you? (âI can make a full-time living as a designer, Ma â" I know people that can prove it!â) â¦it wasnât aligned with your values and priorities in any way, shape, or form? (I could care less about having stock options!) â¦it made things worse? (Well, that was a conversation thatâll haunt my nightmares for years to come. Iâll never ask for help again!) â¦you were told to get a nose job? OK, maybe that last one just happened to me. It was back in 2007, when I finally decided to stop pursuing acting and I heard of a social worker who specifically helped artists figure out a new career they could thrive in. My mother gave me the money for two sessions ($500!), and off I went to someone I thought was going to guide me to what I wanted to be when I grew up. But boy, is that not how the story ended! Honestly, Im surprised that I havent relayed this story yet. I think Ive been repressing ittil now: -
